Doc Ricketts Memorial

Doc Ricketts was a real life marine scientist who played a roll in several of Steinbeck’s books.

The major difficulty here was the harsh sunlight backlighting the bust. A separate flash unit was not available, so only the very small built-in flash was used for fill. This was ineffective, so the darkest shadows were enhanced further with a touch of “Photoshop flash.”
