Ahoy Commrade

For Jim B. This is the image I told you about. Scanned from a slide. We were on a sailboat off Newfoundland doing research while I was at the Univ. of Maine. Apparently we were pretty quiet ’cause this Russian sub either didn’t detect us or didn’t care and surfaced near us and I got this shot. The Navy got wind of the encounter and took my slides. They finally gave them back in the late 1980’s. I’ve been told it is an early version of the Sierra Class or project 945 vessels.
