I was at a art festival in Long Beach, watching a band at night. To my left was a Johnny Rockets restaurant with this tower. Staff was up in the tower spotlighting the band. It looked interesting so I took a picture. The picture itself was not great, so I started playing with it. I isolated the tower and some of the lights surrounding it. I then replicated it 4 times and put them together. By using the Hue/Saturation tool in Photoshop I was able to change the colors and thus was born a spaceship. All the pictures used in the composition are my own except for the Earth which was borrowed from NASA. The eclipse of the moon was taken in my backyard. The astronauts are toys and the small spaceship is a Corgi miniture. The star field was taken from my son's front yard in Benton, CA. The star field is 2 pictures put together to increase the number of stars.The timing gates and exhaust were created using Photo Shop.
